FAQ

What are phenolic panels?

Phenolic panels are an advanced, high-performance material used extensively in the construction and manufacturing industries, known for their exceptional durability, strength, and versatility. These panels are made by layering paper or fabric with phenolic resin, which is then subjected to intense heat and pressure. The result is a dense, robust panel that offers numerous benefits, making it ideal for various applications, including locker manufacturing.

Key Characteristics of Phenolic Panels:

  • Durability: Highly resistant to wear, impact, and abrasion, making them perfect for high-traffic environments.
  • Moisture Resistance: Ideal for humid or wet areas like locker rooms, as they resist water and moisture penetration.
  • Chemical Resistance: Withstand exposure to various chemicals, ensuring long-lasting performance in demanding conditions.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Simple to clean and maintain, often only requiring a wipe-down with common cleaning agents.
Why is there an increased cost for outdoor rated material?

Outdoor-rated materials are designed to withstand the harshest environmental conditions, which requires advanced manufacturing processes and high-quality components. Here’s why outdoor-rated material typically comes with a higher price tag:

1. Weather Protection: Outdoor-rated materials are coated with double-hardened acrylic polyurethane resin surfaces. This advanced coating provides superior protection against a wide range of weather conditions, ensuring the material remains durable and functional even in extreme temperatures ranging from -112°F to +356°F.

2. Durability: The specialized coatings and treatments applied to outdoor-rated materials significantly enhance their durability. These materials are designed to resist UV rays, moisture, and temperature fluctuations, which can cause standard materials to degrade more quickly.

3. Longevity: Investing in outdoor-rated materials means investing in longevity. These materials are built to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements and maintenance, which can save money over time despite the initial higher cost.

4. Enhanced Performance: Outdoor-rated materials maintain their structural integrity and aesthetic appeal over extended periods, even when exposed to the elements. This ensures that products made from these materials, such as outdoor lockers or furniture, perform reliably in all weather conditions.

Why are outdoor color options limited?

The red component of paint is particularly vulnerable to UV rays, which can cause it to fade more quickly than other colors. This instability makes it challenging to maintain the vibrancy of red and similar hues in outdoor settings.

Protective Coatings: To combat color fading, an extra layer of transparent phenolic is applied to outdoor-rated materials. This protective layer helps shield the colors from UV rays and other environmental factors. However, even with this additional protection, the red component remains less stable compared to other colors.
